Eragon = Star Wars???

A New Hope= Eragon-Slightly whiny farm boy (Eragon and Luke) lives with his Uncle (and aunt in Luke's case.)
-He leaves home with some seemingly crazy (or really is crazy, depending on how you would like to look at it) old man (Brom and Obi-Wan.)
-*MAJOR PLOT POINT SPOILER WARNING, IF YOU HAVEN'T READ ERAGON AND PLAN TO SKIP THIS ONE* The old master (Brom and Obi-Wan) die. 
-Luke/Eragon continues his journey with a stranger (Han/Murtagh) and the two rescue a beautiful elven girl (or princess) named Arya/Leia.

Empire Strikes Back= Eldest
-Eragon/Luke goes to an elven city/Dogobah to train to become a Rider/Jedi under Oromis/Yoda, the only other Rider/Jedi left.
-Eragon/Luke sees visions of impending doom through a scrying glass (Force Vision)
-Eragon/Luke then takes it upon himself to go save the world and not complete his training like a total idiot.
-*ANOTHER MAJOR PLOT POINT SPOILER* Eragon/Luke finds out that Morzan(A bad guy who basically had the same job Vader had)/Vader is their father. But we find out in the third book, Brisingr that Brom is really Eragon's father and that is where a difference between SW and Eragon occurs. xD

Things that I noticed after reading this post:   MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

In A New Hope/Eragon:

-Luke/Eragon lives with his Uncle (and Aunt in SW) because he is being hidden from his father.

-The princess (Leia/Arya) is trying to hide something from the empire/king and the droids/dragon egg ends up with Luke/Eragon.

-Luke/Eragon leaves home because of what he found (droids/dragon) and when he return, agents of the empire have killed his family. Luke finds his house burned, Eragon leaves his house burned (at least in the movie)


In Return of the Jedi/Brisingr

-Luke/Eragon returns to complete his training. Soon, the mentor (Yoda/Oromis) dies, leaving Luke Eragon as the last of his kind (except for Vader & the Emperor/Murtagh & the king, who use the powers for evil).

In Return of the Jedi/Inheritance

-Luke/Eragon is taken to the Emperor/king and forced to fight Vader/Murtagh in front of the "throne."

-Luke/Eragon is able to convince Vader/Murtagh to turn from evil and help him defeat the emperor/king.

In Expanded Universe/The Inheritance Cycle

-Luke/Eragon is faced with the task of training new Jedi/Dragon Riders.

-Arya becomes a Rider and will probably marry Eragon later. Mara Jade becomes a Jedi and marries Luke.


-Xanatos kinda reminds me of Murtagh. (I would say it the other way around, but I knew Eragon before SW)





Selena, Eragon's mother, was known as The Black Hand. She served Morzan and King Galbatorix. Mara Jade was known as the Emperor's Hand before she married Luke in the EU.

So, yes, Star Wars and Eragon are very similar. But it does not make me hate Eragon. I love them both. The details of Eragon are much different than Star Wars, anyway. (Where are the dragons and elves in SW?)

Today-The Release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace in 3-D!!

I'm so excited! The first time I saw Star Wars was. . . are you ready? . . .  November 2011!
*Gasp!*
I know you are thinking How could you live so long without even seeing one Star Wars movie?
Answer: I have no idea, but I am so grateful for my friends who organized the Star Wars Marathon. And got me hooked. But the original thanks goes to my dad, who told me the stories for bedtime when I was little almost every night. I guess it stole a piece of my mind and my heart, I just didn't realize it until now.
Now, I am obssessed with it. Even though I haven't seen #6 yet. And now, with Episode 1 in 3-D? Well, I hope I can see it! I won't be able to see it opening night (today), but there is still hope for another day, right?

Movie Review: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Title: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Series: The Chronicles of Narnia, III
Genre: Fantasy
Rating: PG

Summary: Years have passed since the four Pevencie chilren left Narnia (in Prince Caspian) and now Lucy and Edmund, the youngest, are staying with their aunt and uncle while their parents and older siblings are in America. One large problem is their cousin, Eustace, who never does anything productive and spends his days making his cousins miserable.
When all three are transported to Narnia through a painting, things begin to change. Lucy and Edmund are reunited with Caspian, who is now King of Narnia. He has no idea why the children were called to Narnia, but he is glad to see them. When they find out their mission, their thoughts change. They are to find out the source of the evil green mist and destroy it by placing the seven lost sword on Aslan's table.

My Thoughts: When this movie came to theatres around Christmas, I wasn't sure if I wanted to see it. I read the book a while ago and didn't really like it. I didn't like the really old movie version either.  After seeing part of the begining-in Spanish-I decided that I needed to see it. I borrowed it from the library and watched it the other night. It was amazing! I think it might be the best one yet.

    I was very surprised about how many Christian messages were expressed; the movie companies being non-Christian and all. The crew on the Dawn Treader is plunged into an adventure in which the goal is to defeat the evil that is tempting everyone. They must find the seven swords of the seven lords and place them on Aslan's table. The movie also tells us not to be greedy. Eustace, Lucy and Edmund's anoying cousin, greedily takes treasure from an island and face the consequences. At the end of the movie, Lucy asks Aslan if they will ever see him again. He responds by saying 'In your world I have another name. You must learn to know me by it' implying that he represents God.
    This movie is amazing. I give it a five star rating. There are some scary parts, so little children might not like it, though.
